Diagnostics Technology

Organ Specific Proteins

Proteins unique to one organ – or one condition – are sentinels of health and disease. Integrated Diagnostics has licensed proprietary data on thousands of these sentinel proteins and is developing diagnostics capable of monitoring hundreds of biomarkers simultaneously to provide the best clinical relevancy.

This work is based on Dr. Lee Hood’s groundbreaking research at The Institute for Systems Biology investigating protein blood markers that can report on the physiological state of the body’s 50 major organs. By monitoring concentrations of select proteins in the blood, disruptions in healthy function can be detected and traced back to the diseased organ.

Mass Spectrometry (Mass Spec) for a Larger Scale

Existing technologies are insufficient to track multiple biomarkers on the scale needed to gain systems level knowledge. That’s why Integrated Diagnostics and its partners have developed advanced, proprietary applications of MRM mass spec (multiple reaction monitoring mass spectrometry) to quickly and cost-effectively create assays that monitor hundreds of proteins simultaneously. Current technologies, like antibodies, require months to develop assays for a small handful of proteins.

Analysis & Informatics

Advanced technology allows us to evaluate a dramatically larger set of biomarkers, without having to guess in advance which ones are worth considering. Instead, we can follow the data, without bias.

After casting a wider net for information, our mathematicians use sophisticated informatics to analyze and interpret different combinations of biomarkers for their diagnostic power.

Protein Capture Agents

Integrated Diagnostics is also developing alternative protein capture agents that allow for greater precision in the development of in vitro diagnostics — and that may be of use in other applications that require specific binding molecules.
