Lung Cancer Diagnostic

Today, the standard of care for small lung nodules is typically “watchful waiting” – with CT scans performed every 6 months. If a scan shows that the nodule is growing, the attending physician may order a biopsy – which can be painful, risky, and costly to the healthcare system.

Integrated Diagnostics is developing an easy-to-administer blood test for lung cancer that will allow physicians to know with high probability whether the nodule they are seeing on a CT scan is malignant. That will help them to limit the risk of biopsies to those who need them – and to detect and treat lung cancer earlier – for better patient outcomes.

Having begun by analyzing 750+ candidate proteins for their diagnostic value, we are currently conducting pre-validation studies for our lung cancer diagnostic test – and expect to begin validation studies  in 2011.
